Wacky Weekend.

I meant to post this on Monday but of course other things took over!  We had a very busy weekend last weekend--Sophie attended her first birthday parties of someone other than cousin Kelton!  We had loads of fun but also discovered she started going through a little bit of a separation anxiety and crowded places fear.  This showed up on our first party last Friday and has stuck around ever since in a lot of situations!  She just sees people that aren't incredibly familiar and she runs to us and hugs onto our leg and won't go anywhere. 

She will cry if she feels upset or like we've left her, even if we are just a few feet away.  That sounds like me and my sister when we were kids!  I hope this is a phase and she doesn't do that until she's 12 like my sister did!  Tracy was way worse than me but we were both bad as littler kids, I remember doing it.  My poor parents . . . However, the parties were fun as long as we didn't make her participate with other kids in anything.

The first party was Friday afternoon.  One of Tracy's friend's Neely, and her twins, Olivia and Madeleine.  They turned 2.  The party was in Grapevine at Paradise Pond.  Neat place.  It has a huge variety of little stations to have fun, a bounce house and a climb on maze like at Going Bonkers.  Sophie mainly just wanted to do her own thing.  She really enjoyed dress-up, the little "roller coaster" and the dollhouse area.

On Saturday one of Sophie's new friends, Jillian, from school had a party for her 2nd birthday out at Country Critters Farm in Mansfield.  That was a cool place!  They had a huge pumpkin patch of pumpkins they grow themselves and each kid got to pick their own and take it home.  They also had bounce houses a play ground, pony rides, hay rides, petting zoo and a story time area--Sophie wouldn't sit with the other kids so we had to stand in back and hold her while we watched the story time.

There is a photo of one of Sophie's teachers, Cathi, holding her and looking out into the pumpkin patch.  She would run over to each of her teachers (they were both at the party) and get so excited.  She loves them!  At one point she couldn't find "Helle" one of her teachers and she said over and over and over, "Helle, are you?  Helle? Helle? Are you?"  Which is her saying "where are you?"

Our last party was Sunday for Susan's good friend, Lucy, and her son Trey who turned 6. It was at their house and Sophie wasn't so sure what to think of all those boys! She was the only girl and was, again, clingy to me, David or Susan.  We had fun making a race car out of a cardboard box, of which I designed for Sophie and she refused to wear.  She enjoyed Trey's toy cars inside and just played by herself with those.  She also discovered a trampoline and did a tiny bit of her own bouncing on that.
